Life Care Center of Casper comes in first place in Meals On Wheels chili contest

On Jan. 20, 2012, Cody Mays, a certified nursing assistant at Life Care Center of Casper, Wyo., was the proud winner of a soup and chili contest – for a good cause.

Bubbles, Baubles and Beans, held at Parkway Plaza Hotel and Convention Center, is an annual fundraiser for Meals On Wheels. Guests taste an array of local chili and soup entries and have a chance to win several drawings.

“I chose to enter my chili recipe into a chili cook-off at Life Care Center of Casper to share my favorite winter meal with my Life Care family,” Mays explained. “I was thrilled when the chili was voted as the best to have entered into the community-wide contest.”

Mays entered a sweet red chili with beans, hamburger meat and a couple of surprise ingredients: Worcestershire sauce and banana peppers.

Tim Haley, executive director, added, “Every year we do this, the competition gets more intense, with other restaurants and nursing facilities. I am ecstatic that this great-tasting chili smoked the competition!”
