Life Care Center of Plainwell hosts community open house and rehab reunion

On Wednesday, Sept. 16, Life Care Center of Plainwell, Mich., opened its doors to the community and former rehab patients.
Celebrating the successes of former patients and recent renovations in the rehab department, more than 50 community members and 26 rehab graduates joined in the festivities.
The fall football theme was a big hit; various fight songs and rally music played to set the mood and keep energy levels high. Typical tailgate food, including wings, mini cheeseburgers and nachos, contributed to the theme as well.
Guest speaker Darren Conklin, the new football coach at Plainwell High School and former University of Michigan football player, spoke words of encouragement to guests and promised to coach the high school varsity team to victory this year.
The cheerleaders from Plainwell High School were also in attendance and performed their favorite cheers. One of the most memorable parts of the event was the banner provided by the cheerleading squad. The banner was several feet long and read, “Go LCCP!” The rehab team was instructed to run through it as the football players do. After introductions, they fumbled running through it on the first try but made it on the second try. The crowd enjoyed the entertainment that was provided.
Associates enjoyed the time to mingle with community members as well as catch up with rehab graduates. Rehab team members we excited to see that many of the graduates have thrived at home since their stay at the facility.
