Services - Assisted Living Care

Move-in Info

American Lifestyles offers assisted living care in several areas across the country. We call our assisted living centers "The Bridge" because assisted living care is meant to serve as a bridge between retirement living and nursing care. Our Bridge facilities are freestanding buildings located on the same campuses of Life Care nursing centers; however, some of our assisted living units are located in separate wings of a nursing facility or in a section of a retirement community. While move-in procedures will vary from community to community, general move-in guidelines are listed below.

Furnishings
Most American Lifestyles assisted living apartments are unfurnished, allowing each resident to express his or her individuality. Suggestions for furnishings include a bed, recliner chair, rocker, sofa or loveseat, bookshelf, table and chairs, knick-knack shelf, dresser, chest of drawers, wall hanging, radio, television, VCR, bedside stand and telephone. Personal items such as toiletries, bed linens, bedspreads, pillows, towels, washcloths and bath rugs are also needed. Please feel free to measure the new apartment when you make plans for placement of furniture and belongings.

Visiting Hours
Visiting hours are unlimited. The facility's front lobby is usually open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekends. Guests visiting after hours can ring the front door bell to obtain entrance into the building.

Meals
Meals are served in the community's dining room, or they can be served in residents' rooms. The private dining room is available for special occasions and can be reserved by contacting the receptionist. Guest meal tickets can be purchased from the receptionist as well.

Food
Food items may be brought in and stored in residents' apartments. Food should be stored in appropriate containers and should be labeled and dated.

Smoking
Generally, smoking is not permitted inside the facility. American Lifestyles is committed to providing a healthy environment for associates, residents, families and visitors. Smoking is permitted in designated areas outside the building.

Outings
Outings, activities and special events are always encouraged. To ensure safety, all residents are asked to sign in and out of the facility at the reception desk.

Transportation
Transportation is provided by American Lifestyles' assisted living communities for shopping, sightseeing, activities and medical appointments. Residents are encouraged to arrange for transportation in advance with the receptionist.

Enrichment
Enrichment opportunities are provided for residents every day. A calendar of activities is posted in the activity room and is available to each resident on a monthly basis.

Discharges
Discharges require a 30-day notice. Adequate advanced notice will facilitate a satisfactory discharge. Rent is considered ongoing until all furniture is removed from an apartment.
