Services - Rehabilitation

Services

Therapy services are offered five to seven days a week at most Life Care centers across the country on an inpatient and outpatient basis.

Physical therapy
After surgery or an extended illness, residents often require physical therapy to help them regain strength and mobility. Helping increase range of motion and flexibility, and providing instruction in safety, fall prevention and mobility are examples of the services provided by physical therapists.

Occupational therapy
Residents may need occupational therapy to improve their ability to dress themselves, bathe, or eat after an injury or illness. Through the use of specialized techniques and training in the use of adaptive equipment, occupational therapists can help residents achieve greater independence.

Speech-Language pathology
Residents with communication or swallowing disorders, which are commonly the result of traumas, surgery or stroke, often require speech therapy. The speech-language pathologist helps improve speech, language and swallowing.
