The Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association recently selected Jessica Cantwell, director of business development at Life Care Center of Punta Gorda, Florida, to be event chair of the 2019 Charlotte County Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

“I have been a part of the Charlotte County community for almost 14 years and have been an active member of the Walk committee for the past three,” said Cantwell. “I am honored to serve this amazing committee as the 2019 chair and am looking forward to another great year of fundraising and bringing more community awareness.”

The Charlotte County Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place on Oct. 5, 2019, at Laishley Park in Punta Gorda. Around 600 people are expected to attend this year’s event.

“Events such as the Walk to End Alzheimer’s are most successful when they are led and supported by outstanding and passionate volunteers who believe in our mission to end Alzheimer’s,” said Robyn Liska, vice president of development for the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter. “We are so fortunate to have Jessica as our 2019 chair, and our team looks forward to supporting her and all the volunteers to make this a record event.”

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research programs. Alzheimer’s is currently the sixth leading cause of death in the United States, with more than 5 million Americans living with the disease.
