Last spring, Edgar Stuhr was admitted to Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton, Massachusetts, for pneumonia.

Stuhr’s wife, Prudence, had undergone therapy at the center for five months prior to her husband. When she completed rehabilitation, she urged her husband to go to Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley because she had such a wonderful experience there.

“All of the nurses and therapists were exceptional,” said Stuhr.

Physical and occupational therapists worked with Stuhr to help him heal. Occupational therapists used the SCIFIT and OmniCycle® machines for strengthening and endurance as well as the Biodex Balance machine to increase Stuhr’s balance so that he could accomplish activities of daily living. Physical therapists made home visits to provide education on home safety and energy conservation methods such as pacing and proper breathing techniques with higher level home tasks.

“I was very impressed and pleased with the quality of care,” said Stuhr. “The therapists played a large role in designing specific activities for my needs and implementing them in a courteous, friendly, professional manner.”

Stuhr returned home to his wife on Dec. 27, 2018.
