On March 25, 2019, State Senator Christine Friedman came to visit Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley in North Billerica, Massachusetts.
The facility’s chef and dietary staff prepared a delicious lunch of chicken wraps, onion rings, salad and sorbet with fresh fruit, and Friedman met with Karen Babb, executive director, as well as several other managers.
“She was very supportive in regard to nursing home funding and was very attentive to the trends we have been encountering when receiving new admissions,” said Brunilda Mejia, business development director.
Residents had a chance to meet Friedman and take their photo with her.
Friedman also recognized the center’s two social workers in honor of National Social Work Month: Debra Pichel, director of social services and Julie O’Malley, Alzheimer’s program director. Both ladies received a citation from the senate office as well as gifts thanking them for their service to the community.
“It was such a nice gesture and very much appreciated,” said Pichel. “What an honor!”
O’Malley added, “I am grateful for the population I serve and for the amazing support from Life Care and the Billerica community.”
