On Sept. 15, 2019, associates, their families and families of residents at The Highlands in Fitchburg took part in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s at a park in Worcester, Massachusetts.
While the facility team, Highlands on the Hill, set a goal of raising $4,000 this year, it ended up more than tripling that amount. The center raised $12,600 for the annual Alzheimer’s Association event.
The team ranked No. 4 in the top five teams for the region and No. 2 for the group category.
“Wow!” exclaimed Kristi Mendoza, Alzheimer’s care coordinator at The Highlands. “This is the most we have ever raised, and I am so proud of our employees, residents, families and friends who supported the countless fundraising events through the year!”
Associates who were especially involved this year included Mendoza; Marilyn Finch and Sharon Wiljanen, receptionists; Denise Thompson, dietary associate; and Debbie Blanchard, environmental associate.
“Marilyn and Sharon worked tirelessly all year providing goodies for our fundraisers and also their time in serving delicious chicken Caesar salads/wraps, meatball subs and, of course, their delicious egg McHighland sandwiches!”
