After knee replacement surgery, William Grimley needed rehabilitation to recover and return home independent.

Grimley came to Woolridge Place Nursing Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Feb. 8, 2019, for physical and occupational therapies. When he arrived, he needed some assistance to walk, get dressed, balance while sitting or standing and transfer from one surface to another, such as from a chair to a wheelchair or a bed.

Therapists worked with Grimley five days a week to help him rebuild his strength, endurance, balance and self-care skills. They used the NuStep® and OmniCycle® seated exercise machines to help him work on lower-body, upper-body and core strength and even trained him on stairs when he progressed to the point where he could try them.

“William was very motivated to get better and able to voice the areas he needed to work on, with good carry-over,” said Rene Miranda, physical therapist assistant.

“The therapists were very friendly and helpful,” said Grimley. “I enjoyed being treated by all of them. I am thankful for all they have done for me.”

Grimley successfully returned home on Feb. 18, independent.
