Facility Happenings – October 2024

Each month, our facilities host many fun, exciting, and beneficial events that engage and uplift our residents and serve the community!

Below are some recent events and activities hosted by our facilities across the U.S.

Homecoming Tailgate Party at Rensselaer Care Center

Rensselaer Care Center hosted a Homecoming tailgate before the local Homecoming game!  They served up hot dogs, chips, drinks, nachos, cotton candy, and snow cones! And they had a bounce house, fun games, and face painting for attendees to enjoy.

The Rensselaer Bomber football players, cheerleaders, and band all attended. The band played and led the cheerleaders and football players up to the event. The cheerleaders did a few exciting cheers. The football players did “Bomber Jacks,” a celebratory move, and mingled with the residents.

Residents really enjoyed seeing all the activity and feeling the school spirit. We give a big thanks to Coach Meeks for his help coordinating this event. A great time was had by all! And the Rensselaer Bombers won their homecoming game that evening!

Fighting for a Cure at Life Care Center of Sparta

This weekend, leadership at Life Care Center of Sparta participated in the annual Alzheimer's Tennessee Cumberland 2024 Walk. They have a passion for serving our seniors and for finding a cure for this devastating disease.

This year's walk was held at Algood Middle School and included games, a cake walk, and a bounce house. This month, they are hosting several fundraisers geared toward eradicating Alzheimer's and dementia, and the facility looks forward to sharing more with the community!

"Human Slot Machines" at Life Care Center of Westlake

Residents had a blast pretending to be Human Slot Machines!

Here is how the game worked:

  1. Three residents got a bucket with 3 items.
  2. Another resident would hit the button.
  3. The residents who were working the machine would roll their arms and make sound effects, then pull one item out of the bucket.

If all 3 random items matched, the resident who hit the button got a prize!

The residents had a blast playing this fun and unique game––a game that gives a whole new meaning to the word “participation!”

Spooky Treats at Life Care Center of Michigan City

The spooky season is upon us, so it’s the perfect time to create some ghoulish and delicious treats!

Residents at Life Care Center of Michigan City wanted to get into the Halloween spirit by making monster-mashed cake pops! They rolled the cookie dough, dipped it in candied melts, and decorated each one with sprinkles and eyeballs. What a great afternoon treat!
