Camelia Beall turns 100 at Life Care Center of New Port Richey

The coronavirus precautions couldn’t dampen the spirit of celebration at Life Care Center of New Port Richey, Florida, as the facility honored its newest centenarian, Camelia Beall.

Camelia turned 100 years old on March 24, 2020, and associates sang happy birthday to her while a rehab tech played the guitar. Residents enjoyed cake and refreshments in their rooms, and Camelia enjoyed a FaceTime visit with her family.

Camelia was born in 1920 in Washington, D.C. She married John Beall at the age of 20, and the couple had one daughter, Carole. They owned property on the Potomac River, and they would go fishing and crabbing on their boat. Often, friends and family members would join them. They made great memories there for their daughter and family. Camelia worked in sales in a women’s shop and volunteered for the school.

The family moved to Florida after Carole was older.

“We did fun Florida stuff,” Camelia shared, laughing.

Now, Camelia has two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

“I always thought life was a storybook, and that’s how I’ve lived it,” Camelia said. “I had good parents and a good daughter.”
