Life Care Centers of America’s Whatever It Takes And Then Some program honors associates who go beyond their job descriptions in caring for residents, their families and fellow associates. Here are three of the inspiring stories from our January 2020 winners:
Amanda Baker, certified nursing assistant at Life Care Center of Greeley, Colorado, spent her day off with a resident at the hospital for a surgical procedure. This resident had no family to be there, so Amanda took it upon herself to ensure that he was not alone. She arrived at 6 a.m. and spent seven hours at the hospital. However, Amanda didn’t stop there; she was at the hospital every day after the surgery to visit this resident. She went above and beyond to ensure this resident was not only taken care of physically but emotionally as well.
Adalea Chaney, certified nursing assistant at Life Care Center of Sandpoint, Idaho, goes the extra mile to ensure that residents feel comfortable and loved. Adalea brings happiness to the residents and their family members by taking the time to curl and French braid the women’s hair. A family member called her a “rising star.”
Tammy Hayes, registered nurse at Life Care Center of Morehead, Kentucky, recently had a resident who was able to return home, but she was still worried. When her shift was over, Tammy went by his apartment to check on him. After her visit, she went and got him some groceries. She wanted to make sure he had everything he needed during his transition home.
