Nancy Zearbaugh came to The Woodlands in Muncie, Indiana, after she had a fall at home while caring for her two dogs.
The fall resulted in a hip and wrist fracture that impaired Nancy’s ability to get out of bed and do the things she needed in order to get back home. The rehab team at The Woodlands worked with her to improve her balance, safety and independence with performing her activities of daily living.
Lori Sloffer, occupational therapist, performed exercises with Nancy that improved her upper-body strength and assisted Nancy with successfully navigating in a home environment. Nancy demonstrated her improvement with a Modified Barthel Index (measuring proficiency at activities of daily living) score change from 52/100 to 91/100.
Nancy had this to say about the rehab team: “Therapy has been great! I worked hard with them every day so that I could get back home to my babies.”
