Life Care Center of Leominster, Massachusetts, recently earned a deficiency-free annual health survey, its second in two years.
To pass the state health survey each year, nursing facilities must meet hundreds of criteria. The survey focuses on a wide variety of care areas in the facility, including nursing care, patients’ rights, safety, food services and administration. Surveyors spend several days in the building reviewing paperwork, observing resident care, and interviewing residents and associates.
The survey was completed on Feb. 21, and the facility found out the results on March 4.
“I could not be more proud of the accomplishments of the entire staff,” said Bill Reidt, executive director. “Through tremendous teamwork and giving 100 percent every day, we have achieved two consecutive deficiency-free surveys while the average number of deficiencies in Massachusetts continues to be above eight. This shows the dedication of every employee and volunteer to make the facility successful. Well done!”
The facility also has a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the highest rating possible. The CMS rating is based in part on the survey results, as well as on staffing and quality measures such as weight loss, falls and pain management.
