Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley gets UVC light air disinfecting device

Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton, Massachusetts, just received a new device that can help kill bacteria and viruses, a step forward using the latest technology to enhance safety for residents and associates.

The UVC SafeZone uses photochemical destruction of microorganisms’ DNA by absorption of UVC light. It’s a mobile piece of equipment that can be rolled on wheels from room to room, something the staff at Life Care find useful.

Associates can disinfect the air in a room as part of the overall cleaning process, especially before a new admission. The SafeZone machine can disinfect a room in 15-20 minutes.

“It’s awesome,” said Amy Lamontagne, executive director at the nursing and rehab center. “We feel really lucky that we get to pilot it. Our staff and residents feel safer knowing we have this added safeguard.”

The facility is also planning for installation of needlepoint bipolar ionization in its heating and air unit in the coming months to further reduce airborne contaminates and help prevent the spread of disease.
