Life Care Center of Sparta earns deficiency-free survey and 5-star rating
Life Care Center of Sparta, Tennessee, recently kicked off the year with two honors – a deficiency-free annual health survey and a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
The facility found out about both on Jan. 30.
To pass the state health survey each year, nursing facilities must meet hundreds of criteria. The survey focuses on a wide variety of care areas in the facility, including nursing care, patients’ rights, safety, food services and administration. Surveyors spend several days in the building reviewing paperwork, observing resident care, and interviewing residents and associates.
The CMS rating is based in part on the survey results, as well as on staffing and quality measures such as weight loss, falls and pain management.
“I’m so excited to be able to serve alongside this team,” said Latessa Morris, senior executive director. “We’re in our 20th anniversary of service to our community, and what a great way to begin 2020 with this affirmation of our staff’s hard work.”
