Introducing Our 2023 Whatever It Takes Winners!

Each annual winner was chosen from the quarterly Whatever It Takes Champions during 2022. Congratulations to each of these outstanding Champions of Care for the amazing job they have done in serving residents, patients, and fellow associates!

Central Division

Karlos Harper, Laundry Aide at Life Care Center of Omaha

When the Environmental Services Director was out for an extended period, Karlos stepped up and managed all the duties, ensuring the residents had fresh linens and sparkling-clean rooms. Karlos always fulfils resident requests in a timely manner and never falters when it comes to showing concern, compassion, and kindness towards residents and colleagues.

Eastern Division

Erin Dos Santos, Occupational Therapist – Life Care Center of Ooltewah

While working with a patient, Erin learned that the patient loved to sew. In fact, the patient would sew daily before she became ill and greatly missed the activity. So, Erin brought in her own sewing machine so that the patient could continue her sewing routine. The patient was overjoyed by Erin’s generosity and kindness.

Mountain States

Mae Lam, Social Services – Life Care Center of Littleton

A brother and sister with a special bond moved to the facility. Mae helped them with their moving and set up their rooms and services. Shortly after, the sister became very ill. Mae spent several hours with her brother, explaining all the options and accompanying him at his sister’s bedside. When the sister passed away, the brother was in the hospital being treated for his own ailment. Mae drove to the hospital to deliver the news to him and provide him support. Mae went back to the hospital several times to check on him and assist him with arrangements.

Northeast Division

Rachelle Bizon, Physical Therapist – Life Care Center of Medina

Rachelle spent time with a near-passing resident every day until they passed, ensuring they had proper comfort and support. When another resident passed away unexpectedly, Rachelle purchased a sympathy card and had the entire staff sign it for the resident’s daughter.

Northwest Division

Stephanie Schultz, Central Supply – Life Care Center of South Hill

Stephanie has gone above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that our associates feel recognized and appreciated during not only nursing and nursing home weeks but all times of the year. She always goes out of her way to make sure our staff and residents feel recognized and appreciated.

Southeast Division

Hale’na Bascom, Activities Specialist – Life Care Center of Pensacola

Hale’na has been called the true definition of a team player who is always willing to help her colleagues, no matter what department they are in. And she has an incredible connection with her residents. When she is off, they often ask when she will be back!

Southwest Division

Hannah Benavides, Medical Records Director – Wooldridge Place Nursing Center

Hannah has gone from housekeeping to Director of Medical Records and comes to work each day with pride and a willingness to serve. Recently, she drove over 300 miles to transport a former resident’s belongings, because that resident did not have anyone else who could do so.
