On May 1, 2021, South Sound Magazine released its Best of the South Sound 2021 awards, and Camille Brock, director of nursing at Cottesmore of Life Care in Gig Harbor, Washington, was named Best Nurse.
The magazine holds a contest each year in which readers can nominate individuals and businesses for a wide variety of awards – from local TV personality to coffee shop.
“I was pretty surprised,” Camille said about finding out she had won.
Chelsey Earnest, regional director of clinical services, shared, “The Best of the South Sound definitely got it right! Camille is an exceptional leader who exemplifies the true core values and mission of Life Care Centers of America. She is a faithful, selfless steward to our profession and the residents, families, staff and community that she serves. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this award.”
Annie Wingard, executive director, added, “Camille’s compassion and ability to serve others is what sets her apart.”
Camille has been DON at Cottesmore for a little over a year, but she has worked for Life Care for about eight years. She started at Cottesmore as staff development coordinator, then became assistant DON at Life Care Center of Puyallup, Washington, where she served for five years. She enjoys the chance to pass on her knowledge.
“I enjoy teaching others,” Camille said. “I love having the opportunity to teach the manager and the floor staff.”
Cottesmore of Life Care, as of mid-May, has only had one resident test positive for COVID-19 in 13 months and has managed to avoid an outbreak.
Camille pointed her success at Cottesmore back to her fellow associates.
“We have a really strong team here,” she said. “I don’t think I would’ve gotten this award without my awesome team.”
