Champions of Care: Whatever It Takes Winners Feb. 2025

Life Care Centers of America's Whatever it Takes Champions program honors associates who go beyond their job descriptions in caring for our patients, residents, and their families. Here are four of our recent winners and their inspiring stories. These associates are certainly Champions of Care!

Amy Witt, Receptionist at Life Care Center of Palm Bay

Many people often forget just how much receptionists do for our guests at our facilities, making them feel comfortable, confident, and valued.

Amy left such a big impression on one recent guest that the guest took to Google to write a positive review about her and the facility! Here is what they had to say.

"I was impressed with the receptionist when I called for verification of resident being there. She was very courteous. On my visit, I found the facility very clean and staff pleasant.

Ashleigh Richardson, Certified Nursing Assistant at Life Care Center of Morehead

A resident arrived at the facility without many articles of clothing. His family had plans to bring more clothes but were taking longer than expected to bring them. The resident had no choice but to wear gowns while he waited.

Wishing the resident to be more comfortable in his new environment, Ashleigh decided to bring the resident a few button-down shirts to wear. The resident was very pleased with the gesture.

Sadly, the resident recently passed away, but Ashleigh’s extra dose of kindness helped him spend his last days feeling comfortable and cared for.

Isaac Jordan, Certified Nursing Assistant at The Highlands

Isaac was nominated by a resident, who also had some nice things to say about him and the care he delivers:

"Isaac, in one word, is a professional. He is consistently giving his happy demeanor to both of us (my roommate). He makes me feel like I am in control of myself. He sets me up for a good evening every time. He helps keep my space clean and makes sure I have what I need close by. I know when he comes in to see us that he will do anything he can to make things better, and he really listens to me.

I don't feel rushed. If he does this for everyone, I bet other people here would say the same thing. When we hear his voice, I am at peace that he is here to watch over us. He is happy, that is one thing, but more than that, he shares his time and never acts too busy. Like I said, he is always professional and helps me feel good when I am maybe not having the best of days."

Cheryl DiGiacomo, HR/Payroll Clerk at The Oaks

Cheryl walked into the building one morning carrying a box of supplies. A resident noticed her and made a joke about their being fudge in the box. Sadly, there wasn’t. But the comment sparked a long conversation between them, in which the resident told Cheryl her fondest memory is making fudge with her daughter.

A few days later, Cheryl showed up with another box––this one full of fudge! The resident was overjoyed, and said the fudge was the best she’d ever tasted. Oh, and it was walnut fudge, the resident’s favorite!
