Skilled Nursing Champions – WIT Winners July 2025

Let’s hear it for more Whatever it Takes Champions! This program honors associates who go beyond their job descriptions in caring for our patients, residents, and families. Here are four recent winners and their inspiring stories. We are proud to have associates like these who define what it means to be a Champion of Care!

Alicia Gomez, CNA at Life Care Center of North Glendale

Our residents know great care when they see it! That is why one of our residents at Life Care Glendale nominated Alicia for the Whatever It Takes award:

“Alicia is so caring. If she notices that you’re having a bad day, she will walk by your room, being a total goofball, just to make you smile. She always checks on you to make sure that you’re okay and if you need anything at all. We need more souls like hers.”

Thanks for bringing the smiles and the soul to our residents, Alicia!

Camille Reyes, LPN at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls

A new resident who had suffered from years of neglect arrived at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls. Not long after their arrival, Camille noticed they avoided social situations and struggled to maintain a steady, healthy diet. So, she began paying the resident special visits and making them tasty, nutritious milkshakes, while also encouraging them to go to scheduled activities and the dining hall for meals.

Now, the resident has higher spirits and is eating regularly in the dining room!

Thanks, Camille, for making sure our residents are as healthy and happy as they can be!

Mary Blalock, Staff Development Coordinator at Life Care Center of Banner Elk

When an epileptic resident lost his protective helmet, Mary took quick action to ensure their safety. Because this patient was having frequent seizures, going long without a helmet might have led to an injury, so Mary reached out to a local ski shop and convinced them to donate a helmet the resident could use until he replaced his seizure helment. She even drove to the stop to get it herself!

Thanks for doing all you can to protect our residents, Mary.

John Richard, Physical Therapist at Life Care Center of Auburn

John’s nomination for the Whatever It Takes award comes from a resident’s family member. Here is what they had to say about his exceptional service:

“John is highly dedicated to his patients. He has a big heart. He takes time to understand what each person needs to recover and applies it to the fullest. He is a wonderful person inside and out!”

We love seeing associates like John giving our residents’ and patient’s families peace of mind.
