Life Care Center of Athens helps Jean Patrick regain independence

Jean Patrick came to Life Care Center of Athens, Tennessee, for rehabilitation after suffering from sepsis, meningitis and heart arrythmia.

When she arrived, Jean needed extensive assistance with bathing and getting dressed, and she needed some help with walking, bed mobility, transfers from surface to surface and standing balance.

Physical, occupational and speech therapists worked with Jean for two months to help her reach her goals. Physical therapy focused on lower-body strength and balance, while OT worked with him on self-care skills and upper-body strengthening.

“I am going home today!” said Jean. “I arrived at Life Care on March 22, 2021, from Erlanger hospital after several traumatic health issues. I was ill, scared and unable to walk or care for myself. It appeared that my recovery was questionable. But, thankfully the staff at Life Care Center of Athens could handle my challenge! Hard work, positive attitudes, many prayers and so many helpful and caring people are the reason that I am walking and going home!”

Jean returned home on May 20. She is now independent again.
