What is the class schedule?


The CNA Certification Class is a 5-week class.

This class consists of classroom time and instruction in a clinical setting.

We will assist you with scheduling your state exam.

We hold classes approximately every 6 weeks depending on need.

What are the costs?


CNA Training Program - FREE!

No charge for: Classroom instruction, textbook for use during class, clinical instruction, state CNA exam preparation, and state exam testing fee.

Additional Fees


  • Required supplies: You will need a name tag (provided to you), athletic-style, comfortable shoes (no Crocs) for clinicals, a watch with secondhand and scrubs (any color and style). You may purchase your own stethoscope and blood pressure cuff (optional), or you may use ours during class for no additional fee. A pen and paper are required for the classroom portion.

Following the hiring process, you will work as a Non-Certified Nursing Assistant while you are taking the class. You will not be paid for class time, but you will be paid working other hours outside of the class.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • CNA stands for Certified Nurse Aide. A CNA provides hands-on care to patients in hospitals, clients in their homes for home health care agencies, and residents in long-term care settings. The Nursing Home Reform Act, adopted by congress in 1987, defined the training and evaluation standards for nursing assistants.
  • Yes, you will be hired as a Non-Certified Nursing Assistant as part of the application process. After the class, there may be job openings as a CNA at our facility, or you can start working as a CNA across Washington. Continued employment at our facility is not guaranteed if you take our class.
  • You will be studying necessary material to pass the written state CNA exam. You will learn the basics of nursing and how to provide high-quality care to your patients.
  • Information will be provided to you on during the class with a list of several different testing sites in the Gig Harbor area.
  • You must be 18 years of age by the first day of class.
  • Yes. Every year you must send in a license-renewal form to the state. You are required to work 8 hours in a two-year period in a skilled nursing, long-term care, or hospital setting to be eligible. License renewal fee is $90.
  • We do not guarantee employment at Cottesmore of Life Care or any other facility upon completion of the course. However, we encourage all eligible applicants to apply for our CNA positions. The job market is good for CNAs, and you are likely to find many opportunities in a variety of care settings. We also may have CNA openings at our facility at the end of the class.
  • The CNA course helps satisfy the one-year requirement for most nursing schools for candidates who pursue a LPN or RN degree.
