Associates and residents at Life Care Center of Wilbraham, Massachusetts, were busy on Oct. 27, 2018 – and for good causes!
The facility hosted its annual Apple Festival that day, with residents selling homemade pies and local vendors selling their crafts, such as crocheted items, jewelry and fall decor. The event also included prize drawings in which guests could pay for a chance to win prizes donated by area businesses. The festival raised more than $1,500 for the Community Survival Center food pantry in Indian Orchard, Massachusetts.
The same day, associates took part in the city of Wilbraham’s chili festival, which raised money for the town’s public access channel. Sandy Herd, food services director at the facility, prepared the chili.
“We had a Halloween theme and had matching Halloween shirts,” said Jan Garneau, admissions director. “We were the only vendor with a theme, and we handed out potholders with safe trick-or-treating tips for children. Our recipe was only beat out by the Wilbraham firefighters.”
