Debra Garcia, human resources and payroll associate at Alameda Oaks Nursing Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, received Life Care Centers of America’s Gulf States Region Whatever It Takes And Then Some Award on May 18 for her dedication to customer service.
Life Care awarded Debra a $1,000 cash prize during an awards ceremony at the facility. Facility leadership surprised her, who was told she needed to watch a training video. When the video started, it was actually a video of fellow associates at the facility, as well as residents, talking about what they appreciate about her.
“I wasn’t expecting it at all, and I want to thank everybody for nominating me,” Debra said. “We have a great team here at Alameda Oaks, and I just love working here.”
Debra was chosen from among thousands of associates in the Gulf States Region and was one of only eight associates from Life Care’s more than 200 facilities nationwide to receive the award.
Debra was praised for her cheerleading and support of the whole facility during its COVID-19 outbreak this past year. She helped out the nursing and housekeeping departments and ran orientation for new hires.
“It’s really a privilege to work with you,” said Mia Lindsey, maintenance director. “I know that you make everybody’s lives easier with what you do, even if you don’t get thanks for it, because you do so much people don’t know about.”
Life Care operates or manages more than 200 skilled nursing, rehabilitation, Alzheimer's and senior living campuses in 27 states.
