After having a shunt placed, Rebecca Sterling was unsteady on her feet and experiencing a lack of coordination

On Feb. 26, 2020, Rebecca came to Life Care Center of Columbia, Tennessee, for rehabilitation. She needed moderate assistance to get in and out of bed and could only walk short distances.

Physical, occupational and speech therapists worked with Rebecca to rebuild strength in her upper and lower body and core, improve safety awareness and increase her balance and coordination. They used the NeuroGym, as well as the NuStep® cross trainer, to help her reach her goals.

“Rebecca was diligent in learning safety precautions, transfer sequencing and gait patterns to improve her independence and safety,” said Ginger Dearman, physical therapist assistant.

Now, Rebecca can walk and better interact with others. Her memory is better, and she can read and focus her attention again.

“It’s great to walk again,” she said.
