Mary “Trudy” Huberd had a fall that fractured her hip.
Following surgery, Trudy came to Life Care Center of Coos Bay, Oregon, for rehabilitation on Sept. 11, 2020.
When she arrived, Trudy was in a lot of pain and experiencing poor balance and difficulty walking. She needed help getting in and out of bed as well.
“I was so afraid of falling again,” Trudy said.
With a combination of balance training, shortwave diathermy and a lot of dedication on her part, Trudy graduated from her therapy program. She returned home on Oct. 6, able to walk 300 feet with a cane and independent in her self-care. Even more, she had her confidence back.
Trudy shared that now she is able to go for short walks at home and enjoys visiting with her friends, family and neighbors.
“Due to my rehab at Life Care Center of Coos Bay, my life is better than ever,” Trudy said.
Life Care operates or manages more than 200 skilled nursing, rehabilitation, Alzheimer's and senior living campuses in 27 states.
