As everyone knows, it has been a hard year, and that is true also for the residents here at Life Care Center of Hendersonville, North Carolina.

The residents are used to going out to the Apple Festival, the state fair and enjoying music and clogging on Main Street. This year, we brought a fall carnival to the residents with music, carnival games, sand art and food. They had corn dogs, apples with caramel, popcorn and good old-fashioned lemonade. For an extra special treat, Vanessa Jeffery from the dietary department made homemade funnel cakes for everyone.

Our residents came into the fall carnival one at a time wearing masks. They played games and picked out their own prizes, participated in an art project and got their photos taken.

At the end, I made each resident his or her own special plate of food to take back to their rooms. Then we cleaned the room for the next resident to come along and enjoy the fun. It was a very fulling day of laughter and fun!

“I enjoyed the festival games and winning the bigger prize,” said resident Terry Bryant.

“All I can say is that I am speechless,” said Carol Fischer. “No words can say how much fun that I had.”

Resident JoAnne Whatley added, “It was very exciting and very well organized, just like the real deal.”
