On Aug. 19, 2021, residents at Life Care Center of Orange Park, Florida, were thrilled to have the facility’s annual Ms. Life Care Pageant!
Five lovely contestants participated, sponsored by some wonderful associates. Each contestant was introduced as she was escorted down the red carpet runway by Herb Woods, environmental services director. Each sponsor read a short biography about their resident.
“We learned some great things about our residents,” said Robin Dake, activity director. “One of them we found out was an actress and a singer! She even proceeded to break out in song for us.”
Each contestant randomly chose a question from the bowl and answered the question to the best of her ability, demonstrating conversational skill, life experience, knowledge, wisdom and of course charm.
The panel of judges included Darin Toney, executive director, and David Ward, director of nursing. The facility was also privileged to have the reigning Teen Miss Clay County Fair 2021, Clarissa Toney, as the third and final judge. Each judge had a score sheet, and contestants were judged on poise, communication skills, inner beauty and personality. Once the judges collaborated, a decision was made and the winners were announced.
All residents who participated received a beautiful rose, sash and certificate.
The second runner-up was Virginia Edwards, and the first runner-up was Jean Lord.
Finally, the first-place winner with the title of Ms. Life Care Center of Orange Park 2021 was Irma Mapp! She was so happy that she cried. She received a sparkling crown, a fabulous hand-sewn sash, a beautiful bouquet of roses and a certificate with her new reigning title.
Everyone enjoyed watching the event and having refreshments to celebrate afterward.
