On Feb. 7, 2020, the Tennessee Senate honored associates at Life Care Center of Centerville for their work with the local emergency management agency.
The facility received a proclamation at the Law and Safety Dinner for the county. It recognizes the facility’s associates for “serving and protecting their communities” and being nominated by the Hickman County Chamber of Commerce for a Public Safety Award.
“The employees of Life Care epitomize the spirit and commitment that are characteristic of true Tennesseans, and their professionalism and dedication to serving their community are evident to all who know them,” the proclamation stated.
Life Care Center of Centerville recently formed an in-house emergency operations center and is part of a new nurse strike team developed by Travis Shadowens, maintenance director.
Travis has been a volunteer firefighter for the past 16 years and has been working with the local emergency management agency for about three months. He does emergency preparedness education for the community and is on the EMA’s planning committee. He does all this on his own time. In 2019, he was involved in distributing water throughout Hickman County when the river overflowed its banks and flooded the area.
“I love helping people and making sure they are safe and get what they need during disaster times,” Travis said. “I was happy and proud we received such an honorable award.”
Life Care operates or manages more than 200 skilled nursing, rehabilitation, Alzheimer's and senior living campuses in 27 states.
