Beverly Gibson is a resident at The Woodlands in Muncie, Indiana, who wanted to become more independent with self-care tasks, functional transfers and walking in order to possibly go to an assisted living center.

So, she started therapy.

The rehab team and Beverly have worked hard to improve her upper and lower body strength and the safety awareness required for her to be more independent in an assisted living facility. They also worked with her on her balance, transfers from one surface to another and walking.

Beverly is now at a modified independence level with dressing, grooming/oral care, transfers, sit-to-stand and walking with a front-wheeled walker. Her Modified Barthel Index score [which measures a patient’s ability to perform activities of daily living] improved from 54/100 to 92/100!

Beverly stated, “I could not have come this far without you girls! I love you dearly!”

She is on a waiting list for a local assisted living facility.
