Ruth Henderson, a housekeeper at Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan, Colorado, received Life Care Centers of America’s Mountain States Division Whatever It Takes And Then Some Award on May 20, 2021, for her dedication to customer service.
Life Care awarded Ruth a $1,000 cash prize during an awards ceremony at the facility. Facility leadership surprised Ruth, who was told she needed to watch a training video. When the video started, it was actually a video of fellow associates at the facility, as well as residents, talking about what they appreciate about her.
“It’s good to know that everything I do is so recognized and appreciated,” Ruth said. “I have always liked housekeeping – cleaning, cooking. I’ve been doing housekeeping for over 20 years. I really enjoy doing what I do.”
Ruth was chosen from among thousands of associates in the Mountain States Division and was one of only eight associates from Life Care’s more than 200 facilities nationwide to receive the award.
Ruth was nominated for her quick actions when the facility entered COVID-19 outbreak status last year. She had worked a full day, starting at 5 a.m. When a resident tested positive, Ruth volunteered and came in at a moment’s notice at 9 p.m.
“I’m really impressed with your kind heart and your work ethic, your ability to make everybody smile,” said Mildred Musgrave, recreation director.
“You have the best personality – so bubbly, so friendly, always wanting to help anywhere you can,” added Taylor Umholtz, dietician.
Life Care operates or manages more than 200 skilled nursing, rehabilitation, Alzheimer's and senior living campuses in 27 states.
