Our Whatever It Takes Champions program honors associates who go beyond their job descriptions in caring for our patients, residents, and families. Here are four recent winners and their inspiring stories. We are proud to have associates like these who define what it means to be Champions of Care!

Tammy Belcher, Marketing Director at Parkview Care Center

Tammy didn’t think twice to personally replace a resident’s torn Bible with a beautiful new Bible with its very own carrying case! According to Tammy’s colleagues, kind and generous acts like this are not uncommon for her, which is why she is described as “selfless” with a “heart of gold.”

Aidan VanHess, CNA at Life Care Center of Littleton

Aidan’s nomination comes from a resident’s daughter, who was impressed by Aidan’s energy, enthusiasm, and passion for care:

"It seems like Aiden is always at the center when I visit my mom. He is consistently engaged, positive, and pleasant. I have seen him teaching exercise classes and helping with physical therapy, and he is patient and kind. Above all, he seems to enjoy his job, helping people, and it shows!”

Linda Turnbull, Admissions Assistant at Life Care Center of South Hill

A returning short-term therapy patient nominated Linda for being kind, supportive, and thorough while she guided them through the admissions process.

“When coming to Life Care, the first person we met was Linda Turnbull. We call her our “true hero.” She has been so helpful through our many visits now, totaling five admissions. Words cannot express our appreciation for her skill in admission management, her heart in caring for people in real distress, and her loving follow-up throughout our multiple stays. She deserves to be recognized for always doing whatever it takes and then some!”

Vanessa McElhaney, LPN at Lynchburg Nursing Center

With cold weather approaching, one Lynchburg resident found themselves without a proper jacket. Everyone in the facility tried to find a jacket that would suit not only the resident’s needs but also their personal tastes. Vanessa knew just what to get for the resident and brought in the perfect jacket for them. The color, style, and fit were exactly what the resident wanted. Thanks to Vanessa, the resident found warmth and comfort just in time for winter!
