Logan Mate developed complications after an elective surgery that warranted a return to the hospital and skilled nursing and short-term therapy services.

He initially admitted to Rivergate Health Care Center with infections to multiple surgical wound areas along with pain and decreased function.

He had wounds in his abdomen and several other areas of his body. He received treatment with IV antibiotics, wound care and management, and physical, occupational and speech therapies.

Initially he required moderate assistance with mobility and daily living activities, and he could walk only ten feet with two-wheeled walker.

He had an extensive course of wound healing and multiple trips back to the hospital. He and his family received education and training with demonstration of proper wound care and management techniques. And he worked with therapists daily.

Logan is excited to be going home but stated that he will miss the Rivergate team. He would like to thank the wound care team (Wendy and the girls), the nurses and CNAs on Station 1 (Ja'kia, Trisha, Tiffeny, Katrina, T), and his therapy team (Kim, Molly, Jigna and Cortney) for helping him and adjusting his treatments as he progressed.

Logan's wound healing progressed with notable improvements and was able to return home with family.

He discharged at supervision-to-independent level of function, with the ability to walk 300 feet without.

Congratulations, Logan, on your recovery and short-term therapy success!
