On March 3, 2021, Life Care Center of Port St. Lucie held a drive-through breakfast for local first responders.

“We had a great response!” shared Karen McCarthy, director of business development.

Representatives from multiple organizations stopped by, including the Port St. Lucie Fire Department, the St. Lucie County Fire Department, Representative Brian Mast’s office, Treasure Coast Hospice, the Port St. Lucie Police Department and local ambulance transport companies.

“We often do not have time in an emergency situation to thank our first responders for all they do,” said Karen. “Or we do not get to see the transport personnel who are bringing new patients or taking them to appointments. We wanted to thank them with a hot breakfast to start their day.”

Amy Ingham, dietary manager, and her team, provided to-go containers with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes, biscuits and Danishes, as well as juice, water and coffee.

The facility later received a letter from John Bolduc, chief of police for the Port St. Lucie Police Department, saying, “The department’s philosophy is to follow a proactive approach to serve our community by reducing crime, preserving our high quality of life and providing excellent customer service. The PSLPD recognizes that residents and organizations, such as you, enhance morale among our law enforcement officers and civilians by your overwhelming support. Once more, I thank you and the members of your team for your unrelenting kindness exhibited to our agency.”
