On May 14, 2021, Holly Taylor said farewell to her team at Life Care Center of Westminster, Colorado, after serving the facility for 24 years and the Life Care company for 29.
Holly started as director of physical therapy at Life Care Center of Longmont, Colorado, where she served for five years before taking the director of rehab services role (then called rehab services manager) at Westminster.
“The building wasn’t even open when I started there,” Holly remembered. “Coming in on the ground level, it was really my second home. I know every nook and cranny of the building.”
Lori Whitney, senior division rehab director, shared, “We kiddingly say that Holly helped lay the first brick for Life Care Center of Westminster.”
That investment in starting the building from the ground up is part of what kept Holly at the facility for so long, along with her team.
“There have been so many changes in health care through the years,” Holly said.
She reflected that she is thankful for the therapists on her team, all of whom have been with the facility for more than 10 years.
“It’s a special group of people. They’ve hung in there through all the changes.”
The constant throughout the years has been the commitment to her mission of care.
“I really enjoy making an impact on people’s lives, helping short-term patients to go home or, for people who live at the facility, to help them attain their highest quality of life,” Holly said.
Some of Holly’s favorite memories at Life Care Center of Westminster revolve around patients who successfully rehabbed home, while others are just of people who touched her heart.
“There was one woman who I worked with some years ago,” said Holly. “We had a family night, and she didn’t have any family, so I said I’d be her family.”
Lori added, “Holly is an excellent clinician, a passionate patient advocate who knows all her patients and residents. She is a woman of few words, but everyone listens when she chooses to speak. Giving our company 29 years of dedication, commitment and making a positive difference for as long as she has done takes an inspiring level of tenacity, resilience, focus, purpose and heart.”
Holly plans to spend the summer relaxing, camping and spending time outdoors.
