Life Care Centers of America's Whatever it Takes Champions program honors associates who go beyond their job descriptions in caring for residents, their families and fellow associates. Here are four of the inspiring stories from our recent winners. These associates are certainly Champions of Care!

Chris Gray, CNA at Life Care Center of Seneca, used personal time to support and enrich her residents and colleagues. On one occasion, she took residents to a casino to play slots and bingo––during her vacation! On another day, she accompanied fellow staff members on a trip to Leonardville, KS, to help them with the PEAK program, which focuses on improving the skilled nursing industry with person-centered care practices.

Thanks, Chris, for showing your genuine heart for care and service!

Kyle Hornback, Dietary Aide at The Lane House, is always willing to do what he can to serve his facility. Recently, he assisted a delivery person with carrying ten over-the-bed tables into the building. And when the business office had to change locations temporarily, Kyle stepped up to move furniture and make sure that the new office had all the necessary internet hookups.

Thanks for lending a helping hand throughout your facility, Kyle!

Alisha Hugginson and Angel Keown, Housekeeping Aides at Parkview Care Center, teamed up to help one resident find something very near and dear to him––his teeth! Well, his dentures, to be more specific.

This resident could not remember where he’d put his dentures. So, Alisha searched all over the facility to no avail. When the resident voiced that he might have put them in a water cup, Alisha and Angel decided to look through all of the trash cans on the premises. They started with the dumpster, going through every bag. No luck. Finally, they looked through the bags that hadn’t been thrown out, and they found them! They cleaned the dentures up and returned them to the resident, who was very happy.

Way to go, Alisha and Angel!

Urhonda Chambers, RN at Life Care Center of Old Hickory Village, took such good care of one of our residents that the resident’s family member offered these kind words about her and her service:

“She has gone above and beyond to take care of my mother. Urhonda has treated her with dignity and respect during her last days of life. She makes sure she is clean, has fresh clothes, and fresh bed sheets. If Urhonda has time, she will keep her company while I cannot be there. Urhonda is the sweetest person and deserves this award!”

Bless you, Urhonda, for the kindness and careful attention you give our residents!
