We love to highlight our rehab graduates to celebrate their accomplishments and encourage anyone who may be considering inpatient or outpatient therapy for themselves or a loved one.
If you are wondering if short-term therapy would benefit you and your family, take a look at the following patient success stories for February 2026!

Lee was admitted to Life Care Center of Rhea County following a total knee replacement, due to a long history of knee arthritis.
When he first arrived, Lee required significant assistance with getting in and out of bed, transferring to a wheelchair, standing, and getting dressed. He was also unable to walk.
In physical therapy, Lee worked on improving his knee mobility and regaining his strength and balance to get back on his feet. Occupational therapy helped him become more independent with self-care and activities of daily living. Speech therapy focused on strengthening his respiratory support to improve his breathing and swallowing coordination.
During his time at the facility, Lee made a difference in the hearts of the staff and other patients and residents within the facility. He would always go out of his way to make someone smile. He also helped the therapy staff make their cornhole boards more fun and challenging for patients!
Everyone at Life Care Center of Rhea County enjoyed having Lee and are so proud of him for meeting his personal goals and getting back home!
"It was like living in a 5-star hotel. The food is high quality. The staff is all so nice, and the therapists are the top of the line. I am 100% better and will come back here in the future if I need to."

Debbie needed to address chronic back pain and fatigue from injuries she sustained in a car accident, which were affecting her gait and functional ability.
The therapists at Life Care Center of Banner Elk evaluated Debbie’s condition and created for her a personal plan that addressed her joint mobility and her leg, back, and core strength. She quickly progressed to higher level exercises, such as kettlebell deadlifts and walking while carrying 30-pound weights.
In no time, she improved her strength and endurance and restored her balance, allowing her to walk steadily and pick up heavier objects. She was discharged home with a comprehensive home exercise program to maximize her independence.
"My physical therapy was very beneficial to my problem. I think about and tighten my core when lifting heavy items at work. I have increased my overall strength, and that has helped me immensely with the things that I do. I even walk better." –– Debbie

Joe came to Life Care Center of Yuma to manage pain and treat decreased strength related to an abscess. Upon his admission, Jose required moderate-to-maximum assistance with self-care tasks, bed mobility, and transfers.
After his rehab evaluation, Jose participated in physical and occupational therapy five times a week. In physical therapy, he focused on improving his bed mobility, making safe transfers, and walking independently. In occupational therapy, he focused on regaining his ability to perform self-care tasks, including dressing, grooming, and bathing.
In less than a month, Jose was able to discharge home, where he would continue to receive home health services. At the time of his discharge, he was independent with all functional tasks and able to walk with a walker.
Jose was very happy with the attention and care he received during his inpatient stay at Life Care Center of Yuma. He praised the food, his nurse, Cindy, and the CNAs, who helped him remain comfortable.
“I am very thankful for the time and patience therapy had with me to get me where I am now.” –– Jose
